映画で語学学習「House of Cards」S01E02

昨日から、TVシリーズ「House of Cards」(2013年)を
観ているのだが、
面白いっちゃ、面白いけれど、
楽しんでみてるかというと、
そうじゃなくて、
むしろストーリーに腹を立てながら
観ているわけだけれども、
おそらく、NetFlixで放映された当時は、
そうやって、腹を立てながら観ている人も
多かったに違いない。

今回のE02（エピソード2）で
印象に残ったセリフは

Such a waste of talent.
He chose money over power.
In this town, a mistake nearly everyone makes.
Maney is the McMansion in Sarasota that starts falling apart after 10 years.
Power is the old stone building that stands for centuries.

ってのが良く分からなかったので、
ググってみたら、

Sarasota is a city just south of Tampa, Florida. It’s well known for its retirement residents. There are tons of nice expensive houses along the water that are continuously being torn down and rebuilt with a bigger and better house.
Frank is saying that money can buy you a nice house for a brief time, but power is like the big marble building that stands the test of time is stable hundreds of years later.

What is the meaning behind the quote:
Money is the McMansion in Sarasota that starts falling apart after 10 years.

つまり、

この意見には賛否両論あって、

みたいに、
「ロックフェラーとか、ロスチャイルドとかは
100年経っても続いてるけど、
政治家とか軍人で、100年も権力を持ち続けているやつはいないよ」
反対してる人も居る。

いずれにしても、人々の関心を引き付けていることは間違いない。
我輩的には、金でも権力でも、人はそれぞれ自分の好きなものを追えばいいと思うけれど、裏切りは好きじゃないので、
腹を立てながら、観ています（笑）。
自分の関心のある映画や番組を観るのが、
語学上達の一つの秘訣やね。
